4Adequate  Aug 24, 2010
For very small speakers, this pair does a fine job. I use them in a small space and don't intend to ever test their full strength. Have yet to solve a an interference buzz in one of the speakers, which is really annoying!

5Geat speakers, but not the best.  Aug 22, 2010
First off, i love these speakers. they are very nice and i truely love my pair, but they werent so loveable right out of the box. the bass on these is enjoyable and lively, but somewhat sloppy, and the crossover( which is a single 1.2uF cap) is insuffitient for a truely nice pair of speakers. if you chose these speakers for computer music and web surfing then these complaints can be over looked, but to appease the discerning ear, a few cheap mods need to be done. first, to tighten up the bass, buy some accoustastuff or other type of polyester stuffing (tearing up a old pillow will work) and lightly pack half the speaker cabnet with it. this alone created a desirable affect, but then the woofer was too low and leaft a wide open hole in the frequency response. seeing as it was origionally crossed at 16.6kHs, i think that you could have safely said that already. fix this by simply desoldering the origional cap and replacing it with one thats between a rating of 2.2 and 4.7uF. i used a pair of 3.3uF caps which took the cross over down to 6kHz. this will deffinately help with the SQ. the onlp way you can get into the cab is by unscrewing the tweeters. dont try removing the woofers unless you like a mangled look to your speakers.(persomal exerience speaking there) The hex head screws are fake and purely ornamental. when you buy these, consider doing these two simple mods because they have made me quite a pair of pleasing speakers. i use them in the office and my coleagues are astounded by their pleasing tone and deceptive bass. the mail guy still thinks i have a hidden mini-sub, whatever that is. I use a dayton dta-1 to power these babies. its 15watt per channel amp is more than sufficient and the fact that its smaller than my hand is a plus for my broom closet of a office. i can also see how its portability could come in use. it can run on eight AA batteries. check it out.

4Surprisingly good sound, great value  Aug 14, 2010
Basically, you can't usually expect much from "cheapie" little Sony speakers like this, but even after reading the large number of good reviews, I was completely and pleasantly surprised at the full sound these little guys put out.

I use them in locations where I am doing casual listening, and they put out plenty of decent sound, even with plenty of bottom end for such a small pair. Not audiophile, but if you want to get into a pair of MUCH-MORE-THAN-ADEQUATE speakers for a little money, these guys will do very nicely. Would also do nicely as rears in a surround setup.

5sony speakers  Aug 09, 2010
These are outstanding for the money! We priced the same thing at Best Buy - we got this pair for about the same cost as one - plus..they didn't have any in stock!

5wonderful little speaker  Aug 01, 2010
Thank you to all previous reviewers. I went to local store to audition this speaker. Did not sound like much but the highs and bass were there and a little boomy. but hey its a warehouse with 20 foot ceilings. But when I got them home I decided all they needed was a little poly fill. hooked them up to my tx-sr508 setcross over to 120 on receiver and psw110 ( another highly reveiwed item)perfect blend to my ears and WOW. Again Thank you to all reviewers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS I did spend a little to dampen my little 9x12 room with 12 24x24 1inch foam squares cost 45 bucks well worth it.

Again thanks for all the reviews I know people dont agree on much so when they do........

Consumer Reports Says Buy Your HDTV at Amazon!

Washington, D.C. (October 31, 2008) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)

The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2007 and June 2008. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its December 2008 issue.)

"
Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."

Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com and Crutchfield.com came closest.
