 don't buy this tv Nov 20, 2008
We bought our tv and 16 months after purchasing, the tv doesn't work. Paid $2569.99 and repairs are $1654.99. bought the tv from best buy without the extended warrenty. Sony will do nothing! Buy another brand other than Sony OR buy the extended warrenty, you'll need it! FYI- Sony customer service is very difficult to deal with. They make you jump through all kinds of hoops before considering your plea for help.

Definitely one of the best TV out there. I'm not a TV expert looking at every tiny pixel and every detial on the TV, but I know what I like when I see it. The design is absoluely unique. PIP and P&P feature is great. The analog channels look really bad, but when it receives digital signals, it is great. And when it was connected to HD channel, it is the most beautiful thing one can see on a TV.

Great Television, especailly when you have a big family, the size of the TV is great viewing for everyone in the family.
The only complaint is: The price is high. But you pay for what you get. It is worthy.

I waited over a year before making this purchase and I am sorry that I waited at all. This is a great LCD TV and I could not be happier. The SONY PS3 style interface to controll the set is great and easy to use. The digital picture is so good, you don't need to go to a more expensive HDTV box.

After one month of operation this TV is in need of service.
The power light transfers to stand-by mode and then back to power. This
cycle repeats over an over with no picture to access set up.
When it is working the picture quality is excellent. The fans noise was a concern when purchasing, but turns out to be a non issue.
Sony warranty seems to be accomodating but requires serial number to initiate the service call. I agree with this policy but it is a bit of a hassle if your TV is wall mounted at 5'0" on center. I would recommend that you log your serial number before installation so you do not have any delays if service needs to be called.

Consumer Reports Says Buy Your HDTV at Amazon!
Washington, D.C. (October 31, 2008) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2007 and June 2008. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its December 2008 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com and Crutchfield.com came closest.
