Great Sound Aug 31, 2010 I am not an audio pro by any means, but I can tell you that these speakers are amazing. As some reviewers wrote, the speakers are bright, but I do like bright sounds. I think it has more of a crystallizer effect and all the sounds are so clear and very pleasing. I have always appreciated good clear sound with high definition and these speakers deliver what I like. I got a pair of RTI A7 for front, a pair of RTI A3 for back, CSI A6 for center and PSW125 for sub. I got the Pioneer VSX-32 receiver to accommodate all the speakers and I am very happy with the result. I connected my iPhone to the receiver and played some of my MP3 songs and the sound coming out of these speakers was remarkable. The receiver enhanced the sound and uncompressed the MP3 files and the sound produced by these speakers was very pleasing.

Best Speakers I've Heard in a Long Time! May 27, 2010 I recently moved out my parents' house and into my own place. Now that I had the space, I decided to upgrade my old setup (2 Polk Monitor 50s, a CS1 center, and Klipsch satellites). I've been wanting to get a pair of towers so I can listen to music in stereo without having to use the sub. So, I picked up a pair of cherry RTI A7s at the going rate.
Right now, the A7s are bi-amped: lows being driven by an Onkyo M-282 power amp and the mid/highs driven by my Yamaha RX-V663 receiver. Initially I used the Yamaha's built-in bi-amp capability (95w per channel full bandwidth), but having the Onkyo amp help out makes a significant difference. So pushing ~200W per speaker, the low end hits the very bottom and the mids and highs just soar - the clarity and power in 2 channel mode is just amazing - whether it's classic rock, hip hop, electronica. No 'chuffing' with bass notes and the highs aren't shrill at all.
I highly recommend bi-amping these bad boys w/ an external amp. It'll leave some power for the AVR to dish out to the center and surround speakers. The A7s are clear and not overpowering in 5.1 mode provided you run whatever auto config your receiver comes with.
Currently the A7s are paired with:
Polk PSW-110 subwoofer (feels a little underpowered now)
Polk CS20 center (on its way)
Polk Audio Monitor 50s (surrounds)
Yamaha RX-V663 7.1 receiver
PS3 for blu-ray
LG 47" LED TV

These speaker rock!! Apr 12, 2010 I LOVE these speakers. I intially wanted to replace a used pair I bought at Circuit City before they went out of business and came across these. I couldn't be more pleased. These speakers rock!! I have them hooked up to a Pioneer VSX-1019 AH-K. These polks are made of wood.(I went with the cherry) These speakers are tall at 43" and they're somewhat deep at about 15" so if you don't have alot of room, this is something you should consider. The picure doesn't do this speaker justice because it shows this speaker to be flat, when in reality it is somewhat concave in stature.(from front to back). These speakers have a nice, elegant look and feel to them. Great for watching movies... or rocking out to music. The bass is there as is the mids and highs. Great speakers.

Beautiful and Amazing Sound Mar 05, 2010 I got these on a different website, but I cannot sing their praises enough. They, as stated in other reviews, are 42" tall and weigh around 60lbs. I got the cherry ones and my wife couldn't be happier. The all black bachelor pad look just isn't for us, but these nice warm cherry speakers are beautiful.
As with all speakers, they get better with age. That is true for these more than any others I have heard. They start out a bit harsh, so much so that I almost regretted my purchase. Then one day, about a month after purchasing them, I turned on my Denon AVR 890 and something magical happened. The sound was full and warm. I thought my wife had changed some equalizer settings, so I checked...everything was the same. Each and every day that I use these (along with my Denon AVR 890, CSi A6, and RTi A3 surrounds, and PSW 125) whether for movies, music, video games, or whatever, I am overjoyed.
One final thing, and I'm not sure if any other reviewers have discussed this: These are built for two channel audio primarily. There is no reason to spend this kind of money if you just want two fronts for your 5.1 surround sound. The volume and sound quality for 5.1 should be approximately equal across all channels. If 5.1 sound is your game, get the most expensive center channel you can afford (for dialog) and get 4 matching bookshelves for the other channels.
If you want a sound system that can do 2 channel audio as well as 5 channel video, these are the speakers for you.
One final note on the Polk RTi system: If you calibrate it correctly and want GOOD sound (not just boomy bass), your living room will sound better than 90% of movie theaters. IMAX is a different story and some really high end theaters callibrate correctly, but the vast majority think that more bass means higher quality. Get a good HT setup, a PS3 Blu-ray player, and you'll never have to pay $10 for crappy sound again. Consider it an investment.

Truly superb speakers Apr 21, 2009 These are some really wonderful speakers. I auditioned literally dozens of speakers from Polk, Klipsh, Energy, B&O etc. Some of the ones I tested were 10 times the price of these Polks and even excluding price considerations, these were the best I heard (I even enjoyed them more than the more expensive Polk LSi Series).
In the past, I would have said that I prefer loudspeakers with a more rounded, mellow, laid-back sound as opposed to ones that are a bit more forward and precise, but the RTi A7s changed my mind. They are not at all harsh or bright, and while they are very precise, they're not at all fatiguing to the ear. To my ear, these speakers offer a fantastic listening experience for both music and home theatre. And, while you're not buying speakers to look at them, you'll be happy with the real wood finish and superb craftsmanship of the cabinets as well.
Of course, sound quality is somewhat subjective, so you should listen for yourself if you can. However, there's a good reason why these speakers are sold out and back-ordered all across the country: they're really that good. If you can actually get your hands on them, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Just for reference: I use these about 70/30 for music/TV. I have an Onkyo 876 powering these speakers and have them paired with the Polk MicroPro 1000 Sub, Polk CSi A4 Center and a set of Polk RTi A3s for the surrounds. You don't have to source all your speakers from one manufacturer or series, but the Polks are all "timbre-matched" to ensure seamless sound. (Speakers have "accents" and in some cases--particularly with the fronts and the center channel--mix-and-match speakers can sound harsh). Hope this is helpful.

Consumer Reports Says Buy Your HDTV at Amazon!
Washington, D.C. (October 31, 2008) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2007 and June 2008. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its December 2008 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com and Crutchfield.com came closest.
