Made me realize how important your speakers are. Jul 19, 2010 I bought this speaker a couple of weeks ago and if I could give this thing a 11/10 I would. The sound quality on this thing is such a large leap over my previous center(a Yamaha that I got with a Home Theater in a Box set) I also upgraded my rear speakers to Polk Audio M3II's so it really helps the over quality of my surround sound. I already own some vintage Samsai SP-X9's for my fronts, so it's nice having some speakers that can keep up with it. I can not stress enough about NOT getting Home Theater in a Box sets. This is a mistake that I made twice before just forking out a little extra for a decent mid range receiver You're better off getting a good receiver, a center and two fronts then start upgrading from there(which the next step should be a sub woofer before you get your rears, IMO) I noticed a difference going from my old receiver with my current receiver, but I really didn't know what I was missing until now. I live in an apartment, so I couldn't possibly imagine going any more high end with my set up. Games sound amazing(just got done playing God of War 3 in 7.1 PCM), the movies I've tested on Blu-Ray sound crystal clear and music is far superior to just about anything I've heard. I actually bought this speaker off Ebay for a low price but the quality of it I would easily pay $150 for it if I had to. The last thing I mention is that like other reviews have stated, this thing is BIG. I have a 50" Plasma and this thing looks massive mounted above that so it might be something to consider if you are pairing it with a smaller TV. I mean seriously, the front end is actually bigger than my receiver. At the end of the day, it's the sound quality that matters most in a speaker, not the look so if you are upgrading a HTIB speaker, you are in for a surprise in the drastic leap in quality.
Good Deal Jul 14, 2010 My old Optimus from Radio Shack was shot. I think I paid $100 for it. After searching around on the net, I ran into Polk Audio. I was familiar with the name and the sound quality. I was limited with space (width) due to my cabinet that I made. This one would fit, and the price was good too. I would recommend it.
awesome center channel!!! Mar 24, 2010 This speaker is awesome for the price. The sound quality is superb which is what you expect from polk audio!
Excellent quality Feb 18, 2010 Installed with my Yamaha receiver. Works beatifully. I am very happy with the sound quality.
exactly what i was looking for Dec 31, 2009 I found the 5 1/4 inch Sony in this price range to be too small to compete with my fronts
This center is PERFECT IMO. The larger midrange speakers made all the difference. If you want realistic and clear surround sound you cannot go wrong with these. Gotta love the current price point too!

Consumer Reports Says Buy Your HDTV at Amazon!
Washington, D.C. (October 31, 2008) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2007 and June 2008. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its December 2008 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com and Crutchfield.com came closest.
