Good quality product Jun 29, 2010 The quality of the speaker is excellent for the price. I was concerning about the shipping and handling after reading a lot of reviews, but J&R did it very well, and shipment was fast and nothing really massed up. Overall, very satisfied customer in terms of quality of the product. The only thing is that, I found out later, that Amazon is actually charging the shipping and handling per piece although if you buy directly from J&R, you will only be charged once. Anyway, it is only 4 bucks more, so no big deal.
Great speakers Jun 18, 2010 I purchased these speakers back in 2008 along with Polk Audio's Monitor 40's (side) and 30's (back). All being run through a Onkyo 705 receiver. I waited this long to review because shortly after hooking up the system, the home theater room flooded. The bottom 3 inches of the speakers were underwater. I let them air-dry for a month before hooking them back up. What can I say, they worked then and still sound amazing today. On several occasions, I have had the volume past load to approaching ear-bleed volume and have never suffered significant distortion of sound. Whether watching TV, playing X-box/playstation, or just listening to music, you will not be disappointed in the sound quality of these speakers.

Phenomenal Sound May 17, 2010 Absolutely phenomenal sound. Crisp highs, crystal clear voices, and very high detail with an open sound. I can clearly make out any instrument while an entire orchestra is playing, and when I play vocals it sounds like I am having a private concert in the room with the person standing right next to me. Movies sound very realistic and it is definitely better than going to the cinema.
Many people use these with no subwoofer as they have a fair amount of bass to them, so I recommend deciding for yourself before you buy a sub if you don't normally crank the bass up.
Best matched with a CS2 or CS20 center. The Monitor 70s and the center speakers are both large and heavy, so make sure you have room first though. Most people also go with Monitor 60s for surrounds if you have room for them.
It's possible to get a deal at Newegg, Frys, J&R, or Amazon when the price drops temporarily; you can save as much as an additional $20-50/ea, plus I was able to get $3 S&H for two. However, these are being phased out and are not carried by most stores anymore, so you run a risk if you wait too long for a deal. They are being replaced by the TSi 500's which are nearly identical, but have an upgraded casing and slightly better facing.
I cannot recommend these enough. They sound like speakers that cost more than twice as much. I seriously doubt you can find better quality and value, and anything that is capable of sounding better is typically in the I-might-as-well-buy-a-car range (e.g. Paradigm speakers). The casing on these is also stylish, as good as the photos, so you will not be disappointed if you are looking to dress up your living room.

These Speakers Are Beautiful!!! Apr 21, 2010 Beautiful cherrywood speakers even if they are faux. In a room with wood floors so they sound warm and are so well-integrated with the room...not a sound engineer...the bass is so appropriate(I did elevate it on the Yamaha 367 receiver) that I don't need a subwoofer...and amazon thru the vendor delivered them in record time!!! Thanks Amazon.com!!! Will keep shopping /w/ you all.

excellent for the price! Feb 21, 2010 They sound pretty even across the spectrum and have a nice open sound to them. The bass is sufficient for everything but the heaviest of rap. I have mine hooked up to 105 watts per channel and they have not given out on me yet. I've never been a huge polk audio fan, but for $200 each it was worth the gamble. I'm considering using another set and others in this line to build a home theater system...thats how pleased i am with these!

Consumer Reports Says Buy Your HDTV at Amazon!
Washington, D.C. (October 31, 2008) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2007 and June 2008. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its December 2008 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com and Crutchfield.com came closest.
