 Multi-zone feature is useless, no digital audio out Sep 08, 2010
This receiver's interface and remote were designed by usability sadists, the worst I've ever used. Long list of complaints, my biggest disappointment is that the a/v Zone 2 feature is mostly useless.
- there is no digital audio output
- the zone 2 audio output is only analog, and the incoming audio has to be analog too, so don't expect to get the audio from your HDMI source
- the zone 2 video output is composite (old standard definition video, single RCA cable), you cannot get HD component (red/blue/green) output
- you can't control the ipod/iphone directly, you have to use the receiver's remote, which is very confusing
The only positive thing I can say is that customer.support at [...] was responsive.

It is more than adequate for what I use it for, which is supplementing my TV audio. For audiophile, look elsewhere.

Well laid out design. Connections are well spaced and labeled (no phono connection so you will need a PRE AMP to connect a turntable!). The iPod connection is included which is VERY cool!
I chose to use a "banana plug" to connect my speakers...well worth the effort and a very clean connection!!
Remote buttons are a little small but it controls every aspect of the receiver. The remote is also "programmable" to operate a large variety of other system components...a BIG plus!
One thing that is a TOTAL PAIN is the manual. In my opinion, it is THE worst manual I've ever had the displeasure to use!! It forced me to constantly refer to footnotes and turn to pages deeper into the manual to find what was being described. Awful manual for a WONDERFUL Receiver!!!
I love this receiver and look forward to years of QUALITY sound.

VSX-1019AH setup & review Aug 08, 2010
The Pioneer VSX-1019AH receiver is full of features and came highly recommended on CNET. I've had it for about two weeks now and finally have it working to my desire. I am still learning this unit and it takes some time to set it up and get used to. It is not a straight forward intuiative piece of equipment. I highly recommend that you use a PC or TV monitor to use the GUI program that is one of the receiver's features for setting the system up. It will save a lot of time!!! This unit has a ton of features which will require time to learn and understand. For the price, it is a great value and really sounds nice. I have it set up in a full 7.1 surround sound configuration. The Blue Ray movies sound terrific and so does music. I'd recommend it to anyone. Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K 7-Channel A/V Receiver (Black)

Washington, D.C. (October 31, 2008) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2007 and June 2008. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its December 2008 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com and Crutchfield.com came closest.
