STAY AWAY! Mar 10, 2009 Purchased two of these TV Units for my Home. Paid over $3300 including mounting brackets. I've had nothing but issues with these working! Currently they are less than one year old and now one is in the shop (been there for 3 weeks) and they can't get parts for them! VERY BAD SUPPORT FROM PANASONIC! I purchased these becuase of the good reviews! The picutre is great, but what good are they if they don't work????
update: after 30 days of Panasnoic promises, I still have no TV. I WILL NEVER BUY PANASONIC AGAIN! 3-23-09
Fantastic tv Jan 27, 2009 This tv is by a wide margin the best bang for you buck you can get with a tv. Amazon had it for about $2300 in early Jan 09 so don't pay more than that, but at that price it is an amazing deal. Picture is as good or better than any other tv on the market and the sound is very good for built in speakers. The only thing I would change is to add an extra HDMI connector, but that is a minor issue. Great tv, good service from Amazon (white glove arrived on time and delivery guys were helpful, but did not do a full install like other reviews have mentioned), great value.
Severe power problems Jan 15, 2009 I concur with the previous poster that this TV is GORGEOUS (except that it has quite a glare), but more importantly, the TV has severe power problems. I have had the TV for a 11 months. I was IN LOVE with it and had recommended it to everybody. My boyfriend and my dad both bought the exact same TV. However, one week ago, the TV suddenly quit. I only had it on for maybe one hour. I turned it off and it never turned back on again. So I spent over $3000 for a TV that lasted less than one year. It's just shy of the warranty expiration date, but one month from now, it'll cost me a lot if I want repairs! Anyway, I'm just hoping it doesn't happen to the other people who bought the TV because of my recommendation!
Awesome! Jan 12, 2009 I've owned this TV for about 7 months now. I bought it at Circuit City for a steal at the time... around $3,000 for a 2 week old floor model. With this being my first expensive television purchase, I researched for over a year before I actually bought it. The internet can't come close to comparing these televisions, its best to compare them side by side in the store. I've hooked it to my PC, DVD, and XBOX 360 for comparison and the picture is just unbelievable with all of them!!! I've heard negative remarks about larger models (46"+) having issues pixelating 480P signals. It might be true, but I don't have that problem with this TV.
I think the organic sound coming from the TV is great! You have to remember you are paying for the television itself, not the sound quality (that's what home theatres are for!). I've got it hooked to a Sony 5.1 surround and I don't have any problems at all!
I bought the 3 year warranty from Circuit City because you can never be too safe with an investment like this... are you telling me you are already spending $3k and won't spend another measly $300 on a warranty? You have to be kidding!
This is definitely the best television I've ever purchased and if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't have picked a lesser expensive set.
What I really wanted when I thought HD! Nov 26, 2008 This is our second plasma monitor. Our first was a Pioneer, years ago, and made me wonder what the big hoopla over HD was about. This monitor helped me to understand! The picture is so sharp, even with non-HD programming. HD images are sharp with clear colors and flawless contrast. The black tones are true, without any greenness or inkiness (both problems with our old Pioneer). My favorite part about it is that I sometimes can't even tell that what I'm watching isn't in HD. It just makes everything look great.
I should add, though, that you need to take the time to set up the color saturation, brightness and contrast. When we first plugged it in and turned it on, the image was awful. My first thought was that all HD monitors were crap and that it was just a fad. But once my husband worked out the kinks in the image, I was sold. I could tell the difference the first time I saw it, before he even told me. So take the time to get to know your TV and learn how to make it work for you (or get someone that will do it for you) and you'll be thrilled!
And finally, you don't want it too close to your face. When we first got this monitor, we had a smaller set up for our living room. The screen was only about 8 feet from the couch. This was fine for our smaller screen, but with this one it made all the pixels way too obvious. Then we moved to a new place and the screen is about 12 feet from the couch. At first it's weird to be so far away from the TV, but it's just what was needed. Bigger may be better, but you need to have the proper distance. If you're closer than 10 feet to your TV stand, then be sure to get a smaller monitor.

Consumer Reports Says Buy Your HDTV at Amazon!
Washington, D.C. (October 31, 2008) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2007 and June 2008. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its December 2008 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com and Crutchfield.com came closest.
