I wish it worked. Jul 31, 2010 We didn't have time to open the new Onkyo TX-SR670 receiver until after the return period---big mistake. From the beginning it has had major problems keeping a signal. To watch a DVD we have to keep the controller in hand to keep moving off the signal it has lost and then switch back in order to regain the signal (and I suppose it only seems like it always happens at the most crucial times in the story because it happens so often--about every 7 minutes). We miss so much of the movie, not to mention not being able to do something else while watching the movie. It also loses signal with the Blu-ray and cable, though not as often.
ONKYO has persistent OVERHEATING PROBLEMS / knows of issue & refuses to replace. BUYER BEWARE! Jul 28, 2010
We live in the Sonoran Desert in Phoenix Arizona with a freestanding ONKYO 607 near my piano/not in a rack or in any way obstructed. Unit is kept within temperature ranges outlined by ONKYO, but even after factory repair my unit repeatedly fails.
ONKYO will indeed repair your unit, but it'll be $45 in shipping (you pay) and the unit will be gone for about a month.
ONKYO's suggestion? "Most of our customers are buying fans".
If I wanted an under engineered product, I'd have purchased a Denon or some other item with documented temperature issues. Am surprised that Onkyo - with a known issue - takes this approach.
Not the same ONKYO you used to know folks. Buyer beware (unless you live in the Arctic or purchase a huge dedicated (and noisy) fan - which by the way fixes the issue.

watch out for hdmi problems Jul 22, 2010 We bought this receiver about 2 years ago. Now it is having trouble reading the hdmi signal from the playstation 3. We thought it was an issue with the playstation first, and returned it to sony twice for repair and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. We finally figured out that it was the receiver. We have to unplug the hdmi cable in the back over and over again until it works. Otherwise it just says "No Signal". We have since read where this receiver has some known issues with hdmi. If they know about it why don't they fix it? I guess I am going to have to buy a new one, and it will not be onkyo. Oh and another thing I have never liked about this receiver from the beginning is that it always flashes "Searching for Signal" twice before it will show the picture. Annoying!
Great Stereo for a Great price. Jul 11, 2010 I have had this stereo for over a year now, and with Polk Audio surroud speaker set with dual subwoofers this has been an awesome way to hear HD movies. It's ideal for hooking up all of our components, and has all of the options needed for optimal sound quality. If you want a great stereo for a respectable price, I would recommend this unit.
In Limbo Jun 16, 2010 Worked great just long enough for me to not be able to return to amazon. Started overheating and shuts off. Home fan blowing on it keeps it cool. now have to deal with onkyo to fix it or replace. hope it doesnt go like reviews I've been reading

Consumer Reports Says Buy Your HDTV at Amazon!
Washington, D.C. (October 31, 2008) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2007 and June 2008. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its December 2008 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com and Crutchfield.com came closest.
