 Not bad at all. Feb 10, 2010
I bought the Mythos 8 to upgrade my existing system. The old system used the Synergy speakers from Klipsch for the center, rear surround, and front effect speakers. The Mythos 8 is noticeably more efficient and has a wider range as well. This unit works quite well as a center channel speaker, but it would be too harsh and it would lack the low-end punch to serve as a main. Its not fully broken in yet, but I do sense a growing clarity at the low end after about 20 hours of use.
The front panel is dark gray and the aluminum body can stand out if it does not match the rest of the system. However, since it is mounted behind and above the screen, this is not really an issue. Accepting this finish reduces the price considerably, and even if you have black speakers for the rest of the system, you can replace the front cover with a black one to blend in if n eeded.
Superb sound Dec 21, 2009
I am very pleased with imaging and depth of sound. I combined Mythos 1 and 6 for front, Mythos 5s and Mission omnipolars for rear. Adcom amp for front, Hafler for the rear. Previous speakers were Infinity Kappas. The Mythos are asethetic and sound musical. Also great for cinema. No complaints. Worth the price.
Mythos 8 center channel speaker Oct 24, 2009
This center speaker rocks. It matches perfect with my Mythos ones front left and right speakers and my Mythos two rear surrounds. Love the mounting hardware that comes with the speakers. Definitive rocks. I added a supercube 2, and a Klipsch synergy sub 12 for each side of the couch and the put a Martin Logan Dynamo in the front firing forward. WOW WOW WOW, all hooked to an elite sc07. I just don't see how it can get any better.

I have three of these Mythos 8's around my Samsung 4665F and they work just great for music and theater. Coupled with the BP1X's I have in the back and a Parts Express 15" sub it is better than any theater! You won't be unhappy with these at all!

Consumer Reports Says Buy Your HDTV at Amazon!
Washington, D.C. (October 31, 2008) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2007 and June 2008. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its December 2008 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com and Crutchfield.com came closest.
