A nice surprise for the SET and Tri-path crowd May 24, 2010 I've had these speakers for about a month. Other speakers owned are Fostex (Tekton),Aerial, Zigamahornets (Merrill drivers) Magnepan's (1.6's). I Like these speakers quite a bit. I can use them on my 2.5 watt SET or my Virtue ONE t-amp and get startling sound. You can drive them without a sub and get satisfying bottom end. With a quality amp, they sound nearly as good as my $4,500 speakers. With their 91 db efficiency, my SIM Moon rarely leaves Class A and it's a real sonic treat.
I believe because they stay with a smaller driver, it helps them get the midrange right. When I bought mine (used) the dealer said, "But they're TV speakers" when I unpacked my SET amp to try them out. By the time my little tube amp had warmed up, the guys in the store were dragging out CD's they wanted to hear on the rig. The bi-polar design doesn't hurt either. I believe, it is one of the reasons they are able to get so much base and efficiency out of them.
On the downside, they are the plainest things I have ever owned. For looks, they are boring. I hate having to turn them upside down to change cables. I am considering rebuilding them, throwing away the socks, sanding the enclosures and re-finishing them with some kind of glossy automotive finish. Of course, I'll move the darn speaker lugs to the back "?" where they belong. That is if I don't reverse them to make them a front port.
Overall, one of my favorite play speakers.
The BEST. Period. Mar 18, 2010 I've owned these speakers for over 10 years and have loved every second of their performance. I have them running with an older Yamaha receiver. I've had them set up in two different homes. These are the best sounding speakers I've ever heard. They have excellent bass extension, imaging, sound field, and placement flexibility. They sound great for movies and spectacular for music. They're not too bright like a Klipsch or Martin Logan and not too soft like a JBL or Infinity. I can not say enough good things about these. These never really go on sale and you get what you pay for. They are worth the investment. Couple these with a subwoofer (though you could do without), the center channel CLR2002 and the surrounds BPX2s and you've got a totally kickin' system.

Consumer Reports Says Buy Your HDTV at Amazon!
Washington, D.C. (October 31, 2008) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2007 and June 2008. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its December 2008 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com and Crutchfield.com came closest.
